Gonchar had five productive seasons with the Penguins from 2005-10 and was a member of Pittsburgh's 2009 Stanley Cup champion team. Gonchar was set to become a free agent when Ottawa traded him to the Stars for a sixth-round pick in the draft this year. The Russian was fifth among NHL defensemen with 24 assists this season. He was Ottawa's second-leading scorer with 27 points (three goals, 24 assists).
June 7, 2013	The Dallas Stars acquired defenseman Sergei Gonchar from Ottawa on Friday for a conditional sixth-round draft pick this year.	Gonchar had 15 goals and 76 assists in 186 games over three seasons for the Senators. He led Ottawa defensemen in scoring with 27 points - three goals and 24 assists - this season, the last of a three-year, $16.5 million contract. The 39-year-old Gonchar, set to become an unrestricted free agent July 5, has 217 goals and 558 assists in 1,117 games over 18 seasons. The Russian spent his first nine seasons with Washington and also played for Boston and Pittsburgh.

Metallurg, based in the Russian industrial city of Magnitogorsk, said in a statement Sunday that it signed the two Russian players through the end of the 2012-13 season. The NHL formally locked out its players early Sunday after the collective bargaining agreement between the sides expired.	Gonchar, 38, is a defenseman with the Ottawa Senators. Under KHL rules, teams can sign a maximum of three NHL players above their limit of 25. The KHL also sets the ceiling for the salaries of NHL players at a maximum of 65 percent of what they earn under their NHL deals. Gonchar has one year and $5.5 million left on his deal with Ottawa.
