March 11, 2025 Charge Head Coach Carla MacLeod on losing Emerance Maschmeyer to injury midway through the third period: "It's part of the game, but it feels like we keep on facing adversity. March 11, 2025 OTTAWA, ON (March 11, 2025) - Alexa Vasko scored her first two goals as a member of the Ottawa Charge, boosting her team to a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Frost on Tuesday night at TD Place. The victory extended Ottawa's season-high home winning streak to three and moved them within five points of Minnesota and Boston in the league standings. Late in the first, Charge captain Brianne Jenner opened the scoring with her second power play goal of the season. Ottawa went ahead 2-0 at 13:41 in the second frame when Vasko scored her first goal of the night, and of the season, adding to the Charge's momentum. The Frost battled back in the final frame with two goals in a span of 2:13 midway through the period. Following the first by Taylor Heise, Charge goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer left the game due to injury and was replaced by Gwyneth Philips. Claire Thompson capitalized on the first shot on the rookie to knot the score 2-2 at 13:18. Shorthanded with just over four minutes left in regulation, Charge defender Ronja Savolainen made a diving play inside the offensive zone to get the puck to Vasko who was all alone and buried a shot past Maddie Rooney for the 'jailbreak' winner. Philips was credited with her third win of the season, making just one save on two shots faced. Maschmeyer had recorded 19 saves, including the 1,000th of her career. Rooney turned away 16 of 19 shots in defeat. None

The high-scoring outcome gives the Charge 10 points in their last five games, and a five-point lead on the Sirens, who dropped their eighth straight decision. Hughes was one of four players with multiple points in the nine-goal game by opening the scoring and picking up an assist on a goal by the red-hot Emily Clark who has points in six straight games. Feb. 20, 2025 Despite giving up a two-goal lead late in the third period, the Boston Fleet emerged victorious in overtime on a goal by Susanna Tapani to secure a 3-2 win against the Ottawa Charge on Thursday night at TD Place. The win gives the Fleet a third straight victory - a new team record - and a third straight win against the Charge this season. Eight minutes into the first period, Boston opened the scoring with a goal from Theresa Schafzahl, then Alina Muller struck shorthanded eight minutes later to put the Fleet ahead by two heading into the first intermission. Midway through the final frame, Ottawa's Tereza Vanisova and Boston's Jill Saulnier had a heated altercation that sparked life back into the game. Then, with just four minutes left in regulation, Vanisova fed Ronja Savolainen who put the Charge on the board with a power play tally to further ignite the team. Down by one goal and with an extra attacker on the ice, Vanisova found the back of the net with less than three seconds remaining to force extra time. Despite momentum swinging in the Charge's favour and a dominant overtime period by the home team, Boston continued to battle. Tapani took advantage of a turnover and showcased her breakaway speed, skating the length of the ice to bury the winner. Aerin Frankel earned her ninth win of the season between the pipes for Boston - tying her for the league lead - stopping 21 of 23 shots faced. At the other end of the ice, Emerance Maschmeyer turned aside 27 of 30 shots faced. Boston's two points puts them one behind Minnesota and Toronto who are tied for second in the standings.
